At PublicCommonsLounge, we recognize that plans may change, and we endeavor to offer straightforward and clear refund policies. This document provides the guidelines for when refunds can be granted for our yacht charter services.
It is important to review this policy thoroughly before you confirm a booking. By doing so with PublicCommonsLounge, you are consenting to these terms regarding refunds.
Standard Cancellation and Refund Schedule
More than 72 Hours Before Charter
Eligible for: The entire amount back minus any service charges
Processing Time: 5-7 working days
Processing Fee: €50 for payments made by credit card
Conditions: Requests must be made in written form either by email or telephone
24-72 Hours Before Charter
Eligible for: Half of the entire cost of the charter
Processing Time: 7-10 working days
Processing Fee: €25 taken from the refund total
Conditions: A legitimate reason is required; administrative charges will be applied
Less than 24 Hours Before Charter
Eligible for: No refunds will be provided
Exception: Situations of urgency may be taken into consideration
Alternative: Credit for booking a charter might be given at the discretion of our management team
Conditions: Supporting evidence must be submitted for emergencies
Weather-Related Cancellations
Our Weather Guarantee
Your safety is paramount. If sailing conditions are determined to be unsafe by our authorized captain, we provide various options:
- Full Refund: We refund in full if rescheduling isn't possible
- Reschedule: You can rebook for another available date with no extra charges
- Charter Credit: You get credit valid for one year from the original date of the yacht charter
Weather Assessment Process
Our evaluation of weather includes:
- Evaluating wind strength and orientation
- Measuring wave heights and assessing sea conditions
- Checking forecasts for visibility and precipitation
- Heeding advisories and warnings from Coast Guard
- Expert safety assessment from the captain
Decision Timeline: Decisions to call off the charter due to weather conditions are made no later than 4 hours before planned departure.
Medical Emergency Refunds
Emergency Circumstances
We realize that unexpected medical scenarios can arise. The following are conditions that may be considered for special refund treatment:
- Unforeseen illness or harm that necessitates being hospitalized
- Passing away of a close family member
- Call to military service or unanticipated recall
- Being summoned for jury service or receiving a court subpoena
- Natural events that impact travel
Documentation Requirements
To facilitate requests for emergency refunds, please include:
- A medical note or hospital records
- A death certificate (if applicable)
- Verified military orders
- Court orders or notice for jury service
- Emergency declarations or travel warnings
Processing: Emergency refund claims are dealt with within 3-5 business days upon receipt of the necessary documents.
Operational Cancellations
Mechanical Issues
Should the yacht designated for your trip encounter mechanical issues that can't be promptly fixed:
- Alternative Vessel: We will endeavor to find a comparable replacement
- Full Refund: Offered if a suitable replacement isn't available
- Partial Refund: Provided if the substitute vessel is priced differently
- Compensation: We may offer additional compensation to account for any inconvenience
Crew Unavailability
On rare occasions, if the certified crew is not available:
- We'll arrange for an alternative crew when feasible
- A full refund if the yacht charter is unable to proceed
- The option to reschedule at no extra cost
Refund Processing
Payment Method
Refunds will be given through the original mode of payment:
- Credit Cards: Processed within 5-7 business days
- Bank Transfers: Processed within 7-10 business days
- Cash/Cheque: Processed within 3-5 business days
Processing Fees
Credit Card Processing
A €50 charge for cancellations more than 72 hours prior
Bank Transfer Processing
Every bank transfer refund is subject to a €25 fee
International Processing
Additional charges may be applied for transactions outside the country
Charter Credits
When Credits Are Offered
In some situations, instead of a refund, we may issue a credit for chartering:
- Last-minute cancellations (less than 24 hours)
- Cancellations due to weather
- Voluntary changes in booking
- Disruptions in operations
Credit Terms
- Validity: Credits are valid for one year from the date they are issued
- Transferability: Credits cannot be passed on to others
- Value: Equal to the full amount of the charter with no deductions for fees
- Usage: Credits may be used for any future charters that are available
- Expiration: Credits must be used within 12 months and will not be extended
Partial Service Refunds
Service Interruptions
If your yacht rental is disrupted or cut short due to issues we are responsible for:
- A proportional refund for the time not used
- Credit for a subsequent charter of equivalent value
- Free services or upgrades as compensation
Guest-Related Interruptions
In the event of a charter being ended early owing to guest behavior or safety breaches:
- The remaining time will not be refunded
- The total payment for the charter is still due
- Extra charges could be enforced
Dispute Resolution
If there's a disagreement with our refund determination, you can:
- Request an assessment by our management
- Supply additional paperwork or proof
- Seek help from consumer protection organizations
- Explore legal options as per the laws applicable

Step 2: Provide Information
Make sure to include these details in your refund request:
- Your booking reference code
- The scheduled date and time of the charter
- Your reason for requesting a cancellation
- Any relevant evidence to support your request (if necessary)
- Your preferred method for receiving the refund
Step 3: Review and Processing
Our team will confirm receipt of your request within a day, review the details based on this policy, share the outcome within two days, and if your refund is approved, we will process it according to the timelines stated earlier.
Important Notes
- All requests for refunds must be put forth in writing
- Refunds will be issued in € no matter the currency used for the initial payment
- We highly encourage the purchase of travel insurance
- This policy may be revised with a forewarning of 30 days
- Refunds adhere to applicable tax laws and guidelines
